Tom Cruise and longtime producing partner Paula Wagner are now to run United Artists, the film studio originally formed by Charlie Chaplin.
Wagner will serve as chief executive of the company, which is owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. Cruise will appear in UA films, but also be allowed to star in films from rival studios, MGM announced Thursday.

Well sort of...Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise's producing partner, has spoken out about Paramount Pictures cutting the crazy which was reported yesterday. Paula said that Sumner Redstone's comments were offensive and undignified.
“Whatever remarks Mr. Redstone would make about Tom Cruise personally or as an actor have no bearing on what this business issue is. Paramount is, like, so over Tom Cruise. They are ending a 14 year relationship between themselves and Tom's production company "citing the actor's controversial and sometimes erratic behavior of the past year."
Paramount now believes that Mr. Cruise's behavior hurt the box office of his most recent film, "Mission: Impossible III." Now, Mr. Redstone said he wants to sever the studio's connection to its biggest star.
