SUMNER Redstone has had many unkind words for Tom Cruise over the past months - and he's still not finished bashing the couch-jumping Scientologist.
"He was embarrassing the studio. And he was costing us a lot of money," the outspoken Viacom chief tells the December issue of Vanity Fair.
Confirming a Page Six exclusive, Redstone admits it was his wife, Paula, who first soured on Cruise, which resulted in his decision not to renew Paramount's megabucks deal with Cruise's production company.
"Paula, like women everywhere, had come to...

Brad Pitt has reportedly been tapped to replace Tom Cruise in the next installment of the Mission: Impossible series. Paramount Pictures, who recently ended their business relationship with Cruise, is prepared to do whatever it takes to get Pitt on board for the franchise, and are even willing to make him the highest-paid actor in history in the process. "MI : IV will not include Cruise's character, agent Ethan Hunt," an insider told a British paper. "They're considering a brief mention, saying Hunt retired to live a safe life with his new...

When Viacom kingpin Sumner Redstone cited Tom Cruise's personal conduct as the reason for killing his production deal with Paramount, the 83-year-old mogul's candor rocked Hollywood. But apparently Redstone may have let Cruise off easy, particularly in light of allegations the actor dispatched goons from the Church of Scientology to intimidate Redstone's studio chieftan, Brad Grey.
According to a high-ranking media executive, Paramount Pictures honcho Grey had a highly unpleasant run-in with the Church during his tense negotiations with...

s Paramount Pictures worried that Beyoncé Knowles' heavy hype for her new album — released yesterday — is hurting promotional plans for the December blockbuster "Dreamgirls"?
A knowledgeable insider insisted yesterday that Beyoncé's album "B'Day," marking the singer-actress' 25th birthday Monday, could threaten the movie, which Paramount acquired last December when it absorbed DreamWorks SKG.
"Beyoncé's oversaturation in the marketplace has thrown a major monkey wrench in the 'Dreamgirls' rollout campaign," the insider told...

Cruise Fired? Paramount Wasn't His Boss
Still trying to figure out how this "Paramount Fires Tom Cruise" thing got so much play? Me, too.
For one thing, Paramount isn't the boss of Cruise. They may be upset about the numbers for "Mission: Impossible 3" not living up to expectations, but the studio has rarely been home to films starring Cruise anyway.
Indeed, Paramount was lucky that "War of the Worlds," Cruise’s most recent film prior to 'M:I3,' was his biggest ever. "War" did $234 million in the end, absolutely the best ever for a...

Tom Cruise recovered quickly from his breakup with Paramount last week, and has reportedly already scored a deal with a group that includes the owner of the Washington Redskins football team, among others. The new deal will allegedly see Cruise given less than $3 million a year to finance the overhead costs of his production company, in exchange for the rights to finance movies developed by the Mission Impossible star and his partner. The agreement definitely marks a cut in pay from the annual $10 million Cruise was previously receiving from...

Well sort of...Paula Wagner, Tom Cruise's producing partner, has spoken out about Paramount Pictures cutting the crazy which was reported yesterday. Paula said that Sumner Redstone's comments were offensive and undignified.
“Whatever remarks Mr. Redstone would make about Tom Cruise personally or as an actor have no bearing on what this business issue is. I don't understand why this would be turned into a personal attack. Because that's what it is. That's letting one of your greatest assets walk out the door. It looks like bad business to...

Paramount is, like, so over Tom Cruise. They are ending a 14 year relationship between themselves and Tom's production company "citing the actor's controversial and sometimes erratic behavior of the past year."
Paramount now believes that Mr. Cruise's behavior hurt the box office of his most recent film, "Mission: Impossible III." Now, Mr. Redstone said he wants to sever the studio's connection to its biggest star.
"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Mr....
