Victoria Beckham: we’re working hard not to spoil our kids
Victoria Beckham has said she and husband David Beckham are careful not to spoil their children.
The couple have three sons - nine year old Brooklyn, six year old Romeo and three year old Cruz - and she told the Sun recently that they’re keen for the children to have a normal upbringing despite the family’s wealth and fame: “We both say no to the kids and they don’t get everything they want.
“It’s nice to treat them but at the same time you don’t want to end up with spoilt little sods, and it could be very easy, especially living here.
“We’re very strict with them. We treat them now and then but they’re not the kind of kids who have everything they want when they want.
“I wouldn’t do that. It’s just not good for them. I want them to know you have to work hard for things and if they don’t say please or thank you they don’t get anything.
“They know that if I’m away or David’s away, that Mummy and Daddy are away working, because that’s what you have to do if you want nice things and have nice holidays. You have to work hard for it.”
While Brooklyn would love to follow in his father’s footsteps, she explained that their younger sons take are more like their mum: “Romeo is really, really into his clothes. He’d wear a suit every day if we’d let him. We’re both strict with them but they’re free spirits at the same time.
“They’re really nice, well-behaved kids who sing and dance all the time. And Cruz is into his breakdancing at the moment.”
She added that despite the rumours, the boys are unlikely to find themselves with a new younger sibling any time soon: “I’m not even trying to get pregnant at the moment.
“I don’t want another baby for two years because I’m working so hard on my fashion business. I haven’t got time.”
