Richie Sambora facing child endangerment charges after DUI
Richie Sambora could be charged with child endangerment after he was caught drink-driving with his daughter in the car.
The Bon Jovi guitarist was pulled over around 11pm (local time) on Tuesday night in Laguna Beach, California after police observed him driving erratically. His 10 year old daughter Ava, another young girl and a woman believed to be his girlfriend were also in the car.
He is said to have failed “a series of [field] sobriety tests”and was taken to a local police station. Ava’s mum Heather Locklear is said to have given permission for the girlfriend to drive Ava home from the police station while Richie was being booked.
A Laguna Beach police department spokesperson said he was “very cooperative with all the staff” as he chose a blood test over a breathalyzer but “if test results are positive, we could add child endangerment onto a misdemeanor DUI charge.”
Richie was released at around 4am yesterday morning and has been bailed to appear in court on 7th May. He spent two separate stints in rehab last year - first at UCLA Medical Center then at Cirque Lodge in Utah - after admitting to alcohol abuse in the wake of his father’s death from lung cancer.
