Pete Doherty gets suspended sentence & new supervision order
Pete Doherty has been put back on a community supervision order just two days after his last one was rescinded.
Appearing in West London Magistrates Court this afternoon, Pete was given a two-year suspended sentence as well as the 18 month supervision order - leaving him facing four months in jail if he breaks the law during that time period. He was also sentenced to a 12 month drug rehabilitation programme and ordered to pay a £475 fine.
Today’s sentence relates to an arrest for possession of drugs and driving illegally, without insurance or an MOT, in May. He was originally threatened with jail time unless he was seen to be sufficiently motivated in beating his long-term drug addiction: he has tested negative on numerous drug tests over the past two months while undergoing a six-week residential rehabilitation programme at a clinic in Wiltshire.
