Nicole Kidman: I did lose Tom’s baby
Nicole Kidman has revealed she did miscarry Tom Cruise’s baby - but at the start of their marriage and not at the end as has been much rumoured.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Nicole revealed: “From the minute Tom and I were married [in 1990], I wanted to have babies.”
“And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when it came that we would adopt Bella [in 1993].”
Then she added cryptically: “There’s a complicated background to that, given that I never speak much about many things. One day maybe that story will be told.”
Tom and Nicole went on to adopt a second child, son Connor, in 1995 and the Moulin Rouge star has made no secret that she would like to have a baby with new husband Keith Urban.
She explained: “I’m yearning to have one. I think I would be very sad if I wasn’t able to have a baby.”
“Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly. My husband really wants a couple of years, he said, ‘Where I just have you.’ So it’s kind of romantic. That’s what we decided.”
In the unusually revealing interview, she also admitted to being engaged between divorcing Tom and marrying Keith last year. She said: “I got engaged to somebody… but it just wasn’t right. I wasn’t ready. We weren’t ready.”
She refused to give the name but it is rumoured to be her ex-boyfriend Lenny Kravitz.
