Kylie voted #1 Role Model

Kylie Minogue has been voted the most inspirational celebrity of 2006 by teenage girls.

The Aussie pop princess topped the poll in Sugar magazine after beating breast cancer and returning to the stage for her Showgirl tour.

Sugar editor Annabel Brog said: "Kylie couldn't be any more inspirational. She's friendly, gorgeous, talented - and this year she's shown just how strong she is too."

Singer Christina Aguilera was second followed by actress Hilary Duff, Lily Allen was the highest-placed British star at number four and Charlotte Church came fifth.

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson was sixth while Britney Spears shot up to seventh place after dumping husband Kevin Federline.

Pink, Jordan and Coleen McLoughlin completed the top 10. There was no place for last year's winner Sienna Miller or runner-up Kerry Katona.

Are you kidding? I'm glad I had boys if teenage girls think Kylie's the most inspirational woman celebrity. Trouble is we don't hear about women who spend their lives in endeavours which actually contribute to the well-being of others. Everything she has achieved has been for herself. Her whole life is about herself. It's one merry-go-round of self-promotion. Sure she got breast cancer and that's a massive blow in anyone's life - but so do thousands of other women who have to recover without the financial resources and support Kylie would have been able to buy. These women are the real heroes. And the addiction to cosmetic procedures. Just compare pictures of Kylie with those in her Neighbours days. Is it the same person? Is this what teenage girls think is important - what you look like and your latest dress? Then there is the relationship front. Are all her failed relationships the result of the men (remember the demonising of Olivier) or is she so self-absorbed and hell-bent on her singing/acting/perfume-making/clothes designer career that there is very little time and opportunity to make a relationship work? Then we're supposed to feel sorry for her because she may not be able to have children. Well she's been so hell-bent on self-promotion this got pushed to the side til it's perhaps too late. This is a wake up call to all women. If you want to be sure to have children and it is a priority, don't start trying in your late thirties. If there are problems there's not much time left to do something about it. Girls, the most important thing in life is to love yourself the way you are. Those who matter are the people in your life who love you - your family, friends. Look to these people for inspiration. They are real. Kylie's a media creation. Find inspiration in reality or you are deluding yourself.
